Jungle Safari

Dandeli Jungle safari

The Dandeli wildlife sanctuary spreads over an area of around 830-kilometer square and is largest in the state of Karnataka. It was originally a part of a reserved forest in Goa and Maharashtra. Later in the year 1987, few parts of Dandeli were also included in that reserve, thus giving birth to a new Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Dandeli wildlife sanctuary is home to a huge amalgamation of rare flora and fauna, and hence a perfect place for all the nature and animal lovers, wildlife photographers, bird watchers, and adventure lovers. These forests are especially famous for housing over 300 species of birds which is a treat for bird watchers and ornithologists. The most visible bird species here is the hornbill. Apart from birds various other animals which can be spotted here include Tigers, Bison, Leopard, Elephants, Black Panther, Barking Deer, Flying Squirrel, Foxes, and Malabar Giant Squirrel, etc.

The best part of a sanctuary is that you get to see all the animals and birds in their natural habitat, living freely without any cages or boundaries, according to their own rules, which in today’s world is a rare feat. The Safari begins early in the morning at 6:00 or in the evening at 4:00. It takes about two hours to complete the stretch which is 14 kilometres long. The Safari takes place in an open jeep and you can get a local guide to keep you updated with all the information and details regarding all the animals and plants in the forest. A sanctuary is a beautiful place with steep turns and slopes, lush green trees, deep blue waters of the river, and the most beautiful and gorgeous creatures on our planet. This trip will surely fill your heart with wonder and amazement and will leave you in awe with mother nature.
